For exterior contamination.
- Make the situation safe.Park securely and let the surface cool where practical.
- Rinse loose grit.Do not begin by rubbing a dry or gritty deposit.
- Soften before lifting.Use clean water or a finish-compatible automotive product according to its label.
- Lift gently.Use a clean, soft cloth. Stop if removal needs scraping, force or an unknown chemical.
- Wash, rinse and dry.Inspect what remains only after the surface is clean.
For a fresh interior spill.
Blot, do not spread
Remove loose material and blot liquid with a clean absorbent cloth. Work without driving the spill deeper.
Identify the material
Fabric, leather, screens, headlining and switches need different care. Use only a compatible product.
Limit moisture
Do not soak the area or direct liquid into seams, electronics or controls.
Ventilate and observe
Allow the area to dry. A returning smell or dampness means the source may remain below the surface.
This is where you should stop.
- The paint is missing, sharp, cracked, peeling or visibly deep.
- The substance is unknown, hazardous or close to electrical components.
- Moisture, staining or odour returns after the visible surface has dried.
- Visibility, vehicle controls, warning systems or roadside safety are involved.
- The next step requires scraping, strong solvent, aggressive friction or chemical mixing.
